Boo Yahhh! Thats how you start a trip! Ahhh..Big L' yummmy! we all look awesome! "Ninja Kay" abandoning ship.. oh, and here are the pondering yakers..
From my best recollection of Amber and Carlee’s prior posting the prom began around a roaring fire on the 3rd or 4th day of a multiday river trip. Red sand was in every crook and cranny, our hair was an oily sandy mess and as we were looking at one another the thought occurred would we be able to recognize each other off the river in our normal day to day lives. So the idea was hatched to have a get together once a year and now it has become would we recognize each other off the dance floor.
The River Prom has grown from 18 people in 2003 to 123 persons at last year’s prom. As one friend said, “the prom has a life of its own”. Basically, the prom is a gathering of very eclectic people that are friends of the river no matter where that river may be. From rivers in Peru, Costa Rica, Patagonia, Australia, New Zealand, to the mighty Colorado River or the technical Middle Fork, the busy Salt River, or even in our imagination the following is true:
It is attributed to an ancient, unknown Sanskrit poet
-Slender at first, they quickly gather force
Growing in richness as they run their course
Once started, they do not turn back again.
Rivers, and years, And friendships with good men. -
